
2008 Overmountain Extreme Adventure Race
September 26-28, 2008
Pisgah National Forest, North Carolina

the Burke County Habitat for Humanity
What
Up to 32
non-stop hours of trekking, mountain biking, and paddling with
navigation throughout the race. The course will be approximately 85-115
miles covering some of the most breathtaking terrain that Western North
Carolina has to offer. Expect an exciting and beautiful course that
will challenge experienced racers while still giving novice racers a
chance to experience what true adventure racing is all about.
Where
Just north of
Morganton, NC (approximately 1 hour east of Asheville, NC) in the
beautiful Pisgah National Forest.
When
Pre-race
registration and meeting will take place on Friday September 26th,
2008. The race will begin Saturday morning the 27th with a
race cut-off of TBD on Sunday the 28th.
Format
The
Overmountain Extreme AR will be open to three person and two person
teams racing in either the co-ed, all male or all female categories as
well as soloists (soloist category requires pre-approval from race
directors). The three person co-ed category will be the elite
category with cash prizes going to the top three teams in this category
who complete the full course. The top male and all female teams in
the 3 person, 2 person, and soloist categories will be eligible for gear
prizes. Solo competitors will be required to submit a race resume or
speak with a race director by phone to discuss race experience.

Soloists (with race
directors pre-approval) - $185
USARA
The
Overmountain Extreme AR is a USARA sanctioned race. The race is also a
2008 National Championships Qualifying Event.
Support
The
Overmountian Extreme Adventure Race is a supported race. Each team will
be required to have at least one support crew members (maximum of three
crew members). Teams will be allowed to have ONLY ONE support vehicle.
Trailers and RV’s are not permitted.
We are looking into the
possibility of offering an unsupported option. If this does occur there
